182 Ho Chi Minh

After the war France tried to restructure its colonial empire in the Union Française, but in Vietnam the communist Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) proclaimed the republic in 1945. In late 1946 war broke out between the French and the Vietminh, ending on 7 May 1954, when the Vietnamese planted their flag at the French headquarters in Dien Bien Phu.
