31 Revisionists
The German social democrats achieved considerable victories before the First World War. With many of their candidates elected, reform-oriented ‘revisionism’ started to replace the idea that revolution was inevitable. This view was strongly defended in the Sozialistische Monatshefte, edited by Joseph Bloch (1871-1936) from 1897 until 1933. Over the course of the Second World War, the archive containing his complete correspondence wound up in Moscow but was returned to the IISH in Russian archival boxes in 2002.
