48 Argentinian protest
In Latin America anarchism gained ground as well in the late nineteenth century. Especially in Argentina, a favourite refuge for those persecuted in Italy and Spain, the movement attracted a substantial following. The paper la Protesta was published for decades, often even as a daily, sometimes with a weekly or biweekly supplement with excellent literary and historical contributions. Only after the coup by General Uriburu in 1930 did the paper’s popularity fade.
