Born in 1934 in Solo; studied rural sociology at the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB, Agricultural Institute) and at the Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang; agricultural engineer ; activist voor agrarian- and landreform in Indonesia; for many years senior-researcher in the agrarian economic field and prominent consultant for different NGO's; published on these subjects.

Jan Petrus de Putter Recently the Institute acquired the archive of Jan Petrus de Putter, civil servant in the Dutch East-Indies from ca. 1928-1941 (Jave and Sumatra). He died in a Japanese internment camp in 1944. The archive contains amongst others: correspondence with his wife C.M. de Putter-Schmidt (1932-1942); papers about his civil service; papers about his imprisonment and subsequent death.
