Members of the communist youth organization are being lectured near a statue of Lu Xun, China's most revered modern writer (1881-1936). His short stories such as 'The True Story of Ah Q' are still very popular. Lu Xun developed influentual theories on the role of art and culture in the workers' movement. His former residence in Shanghai is now a museum, close by is a park with a memorial hall, a tomb and this statue.
