Death mask of Auguste Blanqui
Death mask of Auguste Blanqui
The mask has become known through its reproduction in a watercolour by Félix Bracquemond, which in turn inspired Jules Dalou, the sculptor who decorated Blanqui's grave at Père Lachaise in Paris. The IISH has two copies of the mask, one mounted on a stand; they were part of the collection of Lucien Descaves, which the Institute acquired in 1936.
